Events and concerts in Tuscany in July

On 1st July Julio Patti Smith will perform at of Play Arezzo Art Festival that is celebrated in this Tuscan town throughout July. On 2nd July the first of the Palios of Siena is run. It is a celebrated horse race that takes place in Piazza del Campo in the city. It is a must-go for those who are in the area on 2nd of July (Palio di Provenzano) and 16th August (Palio dell’Assumpta). Three laps around Piazza del Campo make a unique and passionate experience that “seneses “ await all year long and that foreigners enjoy with the typical emotion of the most exciting sport competitions.
Throughout July, on 3rd , 4th , 5th, 10th, 11th and 12th the wonderful Monteriggioni is held. It is a singular medieval festival that perfectly recreates the rural ambience of 13th and 14th century. A medieval market, parades, military camp, musical shows, plays and entertainment turn this celebration into a must-visit for adults and children who will relish this beautiful and small Tuscan gem. “Aspettando la Battaglia”(Waiting for the battle) is celebrated in Cascina in the province of Pisa on 11th and 12th July. This popular celebration commemorates the battle that took place in Cascina 645 years ago. For two days this precious town in Pisa will be catapulted into the past by means of a great number of celebrations, commemorative parades and a well tended set stage that will transport all participants of the festival to the past.
